Global recognition for IIT-Hyd faculty

Hyderabad: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) is celebrating a landmark moment as two of its distinguished professors, Prof Chennupati Jagadish and Dr Mallikarjun Tatipamula, have been elected Fellows of the Royal Society (FRS)—one of the world’s highest honours in science.
The Royal Society, the UK’s national academy of sciences, is the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence. Election as a Fellow is reserved for individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge in science, engineering, or medicine.
Prof Chennupati Jagadish, distinguished professor emeritus at the Australian National University, is internationally renowned for his groundbreaking research in semiconductor nanotechnology, photonics, and optoelectronics. Born in a small village in Andhra Pradesh and raised in Telangana, he has risen to global prominence, becoming the first Indian to receive Australia’s highest civilian honour, the Companion of the Order of Australia. He currently serves as President of the Australian Academy of Science and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences earlier this year.
Dr Mallikarjun Tatipamula, CTO of Ericsson in Silicon Valley, has been a transformative force in global telecommunications.
